A truly great Paphiopedilum species from northeastern Borneo, in the Section Barbata. There is believed to be a “highland type” and “lowland type” of Paphiopedilum dayanum, albeit with the usual controversy on the distinctions. Based upon the descriptions that I have read, this plant is of the lowland type. Nevertheless, our orchid does seem amenable to our somewhat cooler conditions (winter nights in the upper 50s) and year-round highs mostly in the 70s. I hope that you enjoy the flowering sequence; the bloom opens rather slowly over a few days and lasts around three months in pristine condition.
