Offering a plume of long lasting green flowers, Epidendrum chlorops is one of several hardy Mexican species that enjoys our growing conditions. While this is not a large plant (yet), its first bloom, from a 24″ (60cm) tall keiki is an excellent beginning.
Epidendrum chlorops is native to Mexico, growing at fairly wide range of elevations (350-1700m). We are growing this species in our cool room, with 50F (10C) nights in winter and summer highs in the mid 80s (28C). It is potted in hydroton, and has established itself well in the media in just one summer — blooming in November-December after being initially potted up in June.
