This extraordinary specimen of Dockrillia (Dendrobium) linguiformis is over 20 years old, covering a 14″ wood slab mount on all sides.
Dockrillia (Dendrobium) linguiformis are native to Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. Tolerant of a wide range of conditions, ours have winter nights of 50F (10C). We originally grew this species outdoors in the summer, but determined it was much more amenable to grow in our LED light cool room, with consistently high humidity. We have several clones of Dockrillia (Dendrobium) linguiformis, with different size leaves, though the flowers are all very similar.
The beautifully grown specimen in the photographs came to me from Alan Koch, who originally purchased it from the late Howard Gunn. A true blessing to our Dockrillia collection. As part of many taxonomic shifts, this orchid is also known as Dendrobium nugentii, Dockrillia nugentii, and Dendrobium linguiformis var. nugentii.
